Meet Our Guide: Roger Poel “Red”

With over 21 years of experience, Roger Poel, affectionately known as “Red,” leads our kayak tours with unmatched expertise and passion. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Roger has called Hawaii home since 1998, dedicating his life to exploring and protecting its marine wonders.

Certifications & Experience

Roger Poel’s extensive certifications and experience make him exceptionally qualified to lead our kayak tours:

• Kayak Guide: Since 2001, Roger has been guiding kayak tours, bringing over two decades of hands-on experience navigating Hawaii’s waters and sharing his knowledge of the local marine ecosystem.
• Hawaii Marine Naturalist Certification: Achieved in 2003, this certification highlights Roger’s deep understanding of Hawaii’s marine life and commitment to environmental education and conservation.
• PADI Pro Dive Master: Since 2009, Roger has held this professional diving certification, demonstrating his advanced skills and ability to safely lead diving activities.
• Hawaiian Reef Fish Identification: Roger possesses specialized knowledge in identifying the diverse fish species that inhabit Hawaii’s reefs, enhancing the educational value of our tours.
• Advanced R.E.E.F. Certification: Acquired in 2003, this certification underscores Roger’s expertise in marine environmental education and his dedication to reef preservation.
• CPR/AED/First-Aid Instructor (PADI-EFR): Roger is certified to instruct in CPR, AED, and First Aid through the PADI Emergency First Response program, ensuring the highest safety standards for our tours.
